Munich - Volkswagen idled production at the German factory that builds Passats in the main gearbox factory as the struggling automaker with lower demand and technical problems.
VW suspend production plant in Emden in northwestern Germany on Friday due to technical problems in the sealing station. The factory builds the Passat sedan, coupe and station wagons.
Production in Emden may remain closed on Monday, Reuters reported. Factory employs about 9600 people.
VW also stopped production in some areas of its plant in the central city of Kassel Germany on Friday, with 400 workers affected. Castle produces more than four million radiators a year, and makes the body parts for the Passat.
A spokesman for the plant production is affected in Kassel slower components and technical problems in the Emden factory seal demand, confirming a report in a regional newspaper Hessisch Niedersaechsische Allgemeine.
The spokesman told Reuters the Castle stop production in some areas on Feb 1, February 5 and February 8
Castle employs about 16,000 people.
VW said it was preparing for a difficult market this year after suffering the first decline in sales of the brand of the same name in the basic more than ten years in 2015 as it struggles to contain the damage caused by emissions scandal.
