600+ hp Camaro for $54K? Callaway says so

2016_Callaway_Camaro_C600 (1)   The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS is 400+ hp of sports car fun, but can it get better? Of course it can, and no one is better suited than Callaway Performance. Callaway took the base numbers to the moon with its latest SC600 Camaro. Much like the Corvettes that made Callaway famous in the tuning world, this latest Camaro will have an insane amount of horsepower and still carry a GM warranty. Callaway claims the Camaro’s power increase comes from the company's GenThree supercharger and a special intercooler that is more effective at dropping the intake charge temperature. The added supercharger was too tall for the stock Camaro hood, but that’s nothing a hole can’t fix. The advantage of the supercharger poking through the hood of is that ambient airflow will further help managing the intake charge.   All things considered, the package should be good for 600+ hp out of the 6.2-liter LT1 V8. Added to that, GM is apparently honoring its factory warranty and the price seems somewhat reasonable, starting at $54,290. In case you're wondering; yes, that price does include the stock Camaro SS. Callaway says it comes as a coupe or convertible with an automatic or stick, but doesn’t mention the variance in the price for those options. Aside from the increased power the SC600 package also includes Callaway badging, a new key fob, and an extra Callaway powertrain warranty thrown in for good measure. The word is that these will be limited production units, but we all know what that generally means. Want one? You’d have to head to a Callaway authorized GM dealer as they’re taking pre-orders right now. Now we just want to see one go head to head with a Hennessey HP750 Mustang.
